Taking a Stroll on a Paved Trail

  • Posted on

Not everyone is up for hiking through the woods or maybe your have a toddler or are unable to navigate the terrain... good thing Helen has two FANTASTIC trails for you!

Anna Ruby Falls

Located at Unicoi State Park, Anna Ruby Falls is a short .4 miles path leading from the parking lot to the base of falls with benches along the way to take breaks. The falls features twin waterfalls of the 153 ft Curtis Creek Fall & 50 ft York Creek Fall. This beautiful trail has large boulders along the way making it great for pictures leading to the platforms at the base of the falls! Be sure to check out the Visitor's Center for some super cool merchandise that make great gifts or memories!

Even an easy hike when 6 months pregnant!

Hardman Trail

By far one of my FAVORITE things to do in Helen! Whenever we are there we do this at least 1 time if not daily! This short 2 mile round trip hike takes you from Helen to the Hardman Farm (or vice versa). This hike consists of a paved walkway & boardwalks following alongside the Chattahoochee River. There are interpretive panels throughout the trail that share facts about Helen's history, native animals & plants and the influences that made Helen what it is today! Be sure to snap a picture with the Hardman Farm sign.

There is a viewing platform across from Nora Mill Granary where you can see the working mill and small dam with waterfall. We always enter at the Northern Entrance (Helen end) because there is just so much to see there. At the start of the trail just left of the path is remnants of a mining operation where they used to mine gold.

As you cross the pedestrian bridge and start the trail, you can see some of the original tracks from the old lumber railroad, be sure to pull one of horns & read up on the panels!

This trail is ADA Accesible, stroller friendly and pet friendly. Be sure to put this on the list of MUST SEE'S when in Helen!
